Comic Com Brussels registration open

Hello all on this jolly Christmas day!

The year 2016 has been one with a lot of activities for BeLUG, and for 2017 this isn`t going to dwindle down, as we will be present at even more comic conventions, or "Geeky Cons" as we lovingly tend to call them overhere.

And the first one that will be upon us, will be Comic Con Brussels, taking place the weekend of 25 and 26 February in Tour & Taxis Brussels.

We are confirmed for a booth, the team is gearing up and thinking about what they will be taking along, but there are some more "spots" for people that would like to join.

We can accomodate for an additional 2 - 3 meters of space, and a MAXIMUM of 4 extra spots are available for this expedition.

Now, these kind of conventions aren`t Lego events, but the broader spectrum of all things comics, science-fiction and fantasy, and at events like FACTS we are talking 50.000 visitors.  So you WILL be talking almost all weekend to intrested people, about your creations and about your club, so no, this isn`t just a relaxing walk in the park.  Not to frighten you if you're intrested, but to give you an idea of what to expect.

Of course, this also means that the MOC's taken along have to be in this spectrum of builds.  No offense, but City, Train, Technic builds are out of place there I fear, we are looking for people taking along science fiction and fantasy builds.

You won`t have to pay the entry fee to the convention, and an event brick will be supplied to all those that actively participate.

So what do you have to do to enter?  Well, here below is a small form which you should cut and paste into an e-mail message and send this to:
contact@belug.be with in the header "Comic Con Brussels" and adress it to "Kris Geysen" who is our convention co-ordinator.

Name:
Member number:
MOC's taken along:
Estimated space needed:
and add some pictures of your builds you want to bring along.

Kris will then get back to you with more details if you can come along (you know, it all depends a bit on theme, size, etc etc, and sounds far "heavier" then it really is).  The regulars, being those "chinese volunteers" that have been doing these conventions for 3 years now, at times on weekly basis, can always give you some more explanation on what to expect and what it consists of.

A small word of warning though that I am obliged to put here.  If you just sign up for the free entrance, drop down your build for the weekend and then disappear for two days to stroll around the convention, well, you won`t be invited back.  Hope you understand this...

Pikachu for Charity

Game Mania is auctioning a giant Pikachu model for the benefit of "De Warmste Week', a charity project here in Belgium that returns every year.

In this project, all kinds of charity initiatives can be supported, and Pikachu has been created to support Bednet, which provides for internet teaching to sick children.

The awesome model was build by BeLUG member Dirk Van Haesbroeck, and he also gave me these beautiful high res pictures yesterday to share with you all.

So if YOU want to support this auction, which runs until the 23rd december, just click HERE and you will find the auctionpage.  Please share this post with as many people as you can, because we can`t put enough publicity on charity causes!

At time of writing, the sculpture is already soaring high at 2100 Euro.

Festijn met Bouwsteentjes picture report

This weekend, the town of Rijswijk in The Netherlands hosted the Festijn met Bouwsteentjes event.  Organised by De Bouwsteen LUG, I couldn`t attend unfortunatly.

But do not fear, as I can bring a nice picture report never the less.  I found a "chinese volunteer" within our BeLUG ranks with Tom Vanhaelen, and he gladly supplied the "Social Media Team" with a nice collection.

That way, you can all see what was going on at the event, and make sure to plan the next edition into your calendars for 2017!!!

First, we have this marvelously lighted Christmas village

As well as a lighted up street of Modular buildings

The Great Ball Contraption was present

An X-Wing hovering abobe the swamp by the way of using magnets

Far bigger then your average Architecture range
There was a variety of train builds present, and a fantastic station

A very big and lively City layout

The people from Bouwsteentjes.info where present as well
 A mighty Cathedral
The train cosily ran around this winter village lay-out

Thanks again to my great reporter Tom for providing the pictures for this report, and until the next report in the new year.  This was the last convention on the Agenda page for 2016, but fear not, the 2017 ones are already starting to be listed up nicely.
